Jessica

My name is Jess and I am the single mum to a nearly 10 year old boy Will who has dual diagnosis’s, I also have recently got a diagnosis of ASD. Everyday is challenging, exhausting, pushes to your limits but you always find the strength to keep going and often put others ahead of yourself. The caring role is a role that is not recognised enough, whether dealing with NDIS or any other agency, you are continually fighting for supports for your loved one. It’s hard to maintain employment, you loose relationships and you are constantly on the go. The rewards far outweigh the obstacles, you find strength you never had, a voice that has never been heard, and fighting qualities that make you a force to be reckoned with, along with self confidence that you never thought exisited. I would change anything in my journey from before being a mum, i have an amazing boy who i would do anything for and a team of people behind me that have our family as their number one priority.
