My husband suffered a catastrophic brain injury while on duty as a policeman 26 years ago .I have provided 24 hour care for him ever since he came home from hospital 25 years ago . He is unable to do anything for himself cannot talk walk is peg fed and has no movement down his left side. We have an amazing carer who comes into the house 4 times a week to help. What has become very difficult this year is the lack of care homes offering respite. Respite is a huge part of me being able to care for my husband at home and life has become even more difficult this year not being able to access respite on a regular basis.
