Marie - SA
I have been a Carer for more than 30 years which started with caring for my mother who had bipolar disorder when I was young and then caring for my 3 children. 2 of them are on the Autism spectrum and one was born blind in the left eye, deaf and dyslexic. Life certainly has been a roller coaster ride but now my children are adults and are leading happy successful lives. Interesting that just about every carer in our Carers Group who have spent many years caring for others end up getting an illness. Last year just after turning 60 and enjoying the freedom of our 3 adults living independently, I was diagnosed with Bracci 2 breast cancer. The last year has been certainly life changing and my husband has become my carer. After 5 months of chemo, surgery, and radiotherapy, I have been forced to slow down and keep enjoying the simple things of life. (Submitted in October 2022)
