My son Campbell was diagnosed with severe Autism just shy of his 2nd birthday. Now 13, he has over the years had further diagnosis of intellectual disability, sensory processing disorder, high anxiety, self-harming, absconded and OCD. Every day is met with significant challenges, whether it be through the complexities of Campbells conditions, dealing with the NDIA, trying to find suitably qualified professionals to work with our son and trying to find some balance in life and not drown in the challenges disability can provide. As carers we often are overlooked and we often overlook our needs. My passion project was to start my own business this year with carers in mind. My mental health has suffered during various stages and the game changing life saver for me was excercise. I am so passionate about the physical and mental health of carers, we often poor from an empty cup, feel defeated, alone, angry, depressed, anxious and under represented in society. Starting my business I hope to bring some happiness and positive change into the lives of carers, and having very real lived experience I know what I am talking about.
